So, I don’t know about you, but I looooove entertaining friends and family. Be it during the holidays, a birthday or even on a Sunday Fun Day. One particular party challenge that drove me crazy was, where to put the drinks? We would need to load the refrigerator with beer and soda the day before so it had enough time to get cold, but then there was no room for the food we would prepare in advance. Sure I could have just purchased a new patio cooler, but they were much too small for my needs, and the nice “big” ones were far too expensive (100qt for nearly $600!).
That brings us to today’s post. I decided to find an out of the box solution to my problem when an idea bloomed after seeing an Elevated Garden Bed. I found this garden bed on Amazon and decided it was the perfect piece for my patio, one that would solve all of my problems aaaand it would cost me less than $140!
What you’ll need:
Elevated garden bed
White craft foam
knife
First, you need to assemble the garden bed. This only took me a few minutes to do.
Then grab a sheet of foam and place it flat on the base of the bed, cut to fit if needed.
Once the bottom is covered, place a sheet of foam against the bed wall, cut to fit. Repeat this step until you have tightly covered the whole inside wall. Pieces should be tight enough that they don’t move out of place but not so tight that they are bending outward. Next, you need to cut out an opening for the drain. This way once you’re done using it, you open the spout from the outside, and the melted ice can drain right out.
Now just place it where your patio calls for some attention, throw in some ice, your favorite drinks and you’re done!
